We have always enjoyed the food at Kabuki in Cary, which is why this visit was so disappointing. We were celebrating two birthdays and specifically chose hibachi because itโ€™s supposed to be an experienceโ€”not just dinner. Unfortunately, our chef did absolutely no show at all. He simply cooked the food. There was no egg toss, no onion volcano, no smoky face in the fried rice, no interaction, no fun, and no effort to make it feel like a celebration. We could have ordered hibachi takeout for much less if we only wanted the food. To make matters worse, I politely spoke with management afterward, hoping they would acknowledge the issue or try to make it right. The response was simply, โ€œOh, sorry about that.โ€ That was it. No concern, no explanation, and no attempt to address the disappointing experience. Spending around $150 for a hibachi dinner should include the entertainment that youโ€™re paying for. The food was good, as always, but the experience and customer service completely missed the mark. Sadly, after this visit, we wonโ€™t be returning.

First time here. New to the area and looking for a Japanese option. Facebook pictures look nice. The waiter didnโ€™t seem to know the menu. The food came out so fast as if it was already prepared and heated up. I had chicken that was so dry as if it was reheated a few times. Low quality wine. Definitely not worth the price we paid. ($150/2 ppl) Extremely overpriced for the quality of food and service that they provide

For the first time eating here I didn't have a great opening experience. The hostess had their back turned to the counter and never saw me waiting until someone walked up and told them. When ordering my food, the waitress claimed that the price difference between the two steak options was $10 due to outdated menus, which wasn't even close to what it showed. The Filet Mignon was $31.99 and the Rib Eye was about $4 less. Either this was the waitresses first day on the job or they were trying to up charge me a lot by claiming the menu prices were outdated. After I was about to walk out for false advertising, she confirmed the prices in the menu were actually correct. In writing this review I'm comparing this restaurant to Sapporo in Greensboro, NC, which is a much larger city than Cary, so you would expect Sapporo to have higher prices. But this is the exact opposite. Kabuki is extremely over priced for what you get. With the Hibachi options you only get either a salad or a soup, but not both. In addition to this, you get fried rice and a mix of onions, zucchini and mushrooms. However, for $5 less at Sapporo for the same meal, you get both soup and salad, along with 2 shrimp

The food was absolutely incredible. Overpriced for what you get though. Find a similar style restaurant not in Cary and you can probably save $15 per person. Our cook was amazing and provided an amazing experience. Our server disappeared for a while. They were very accommodating for a seafood allergy by cooking the shrimp last.
